at Ellenville Regional Hospital
Ellenville, New York, July 22, 2011: The Board of Directors of Ellenville Regional Hospital is pleased to announce that Walter Sperling, MD, had been selected as the new Medical Director at the Ellenville NY facility.
Dr. Sperling currently practices at the Family Health Center of Ellenville, located on the same campus as Ellenville Regional Hospital. Dr. Sperling has been the face of healthcare in the Ellenville/Wawarsing Community for over 45 years. He and his partners founded the Ellenville Medical Group in 1966 and he has been caring for the residents of this community ever since. While with the Ellenville Medical Group, he served as an Attending Physician and, at one point, as the Chief of Medicine, at Ellenville Regional Hospital and its predecessors.
Steven Kelley, President and CEO of Ellenville Regional Hospital, is excited about Dr. Sperling’s new role at the Hospital. “Dr. Sperling brings a wealth of experience and skill to Ellenville Regional Hospital”. He added, “I am delighted that he has decided to bring his talents to our Hospital to serve our patients and our community. And he will be a great mentor and leader for the members of our Medical Staff and to our incoming Family Practice Residents”.
Dr. Sperling earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical College. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, and served as both the Chief Medical Resident and as an Instructor of Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He then served as a Captain and Chief of Medicine with the United States Air Force at the Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL. He is board-eligible in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Angiology.
