Saturday Movie Matinees at
The Shadowland Are Back!
Hudson Valley classic movie buffs, take note: Saturday Matinees at The Shadowland are back this February to April in downtown Ellenville. Following up on its 2010 success and the Dec. 2011 showing of “Babes in Toyland,” Shadowland Theatre announced today its 2012 winter/spring line up of movie classics, complete with original cartoons, shorts and chapters from the Flash Gordon serial.
The 2PM Saturday matinees’ schedule includes:
• February 18: The Time of Their Lives, starring Bud Abbott and Lou Costello; original 1946 movie trailers; “Melody Parade,” a musical short; “Lincoln in the White House,” a Technicolor short; “The Big Snooze,” a Looney Tune cartoon starring Bugs Bunny; “Flash Gordon,” Chapter 4.
• March 17: Rio Grande, starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara, directed by John Ford; original 1950 movie trailers; “Little Rural Riding Hood,” a Tex Avery cartoon; “Punchy Cowpunchers,” starring the Three Stooges; “Flash Gordon,” Chapter 5.
• April 28: Hellzapoppin’, starring Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson; Original 1941 movie trailers; Woody Woodpecker cartoon, “Knock! Knock!”; “Is Everybody Happy,” musical short starring Ted Lewis; “Flash Gordon,” Chapter 6.
To commemorate Presidents’ Weekend, Shadowland will kick off the series with Abbott and Costello in The Time of Their Lives, an atypical feature from the great comedy duo about a Revolutionary War patriot who is mistakenly killed and his spirit accursed to remain on the estate of a Colonial traitor.
Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children and seniors. Tickets are available at the Shadowland box office at 157 Canal Street in Ellenville. Reservations are recommended. For more info or to reserve seats, call 845-647-5511.
