[ LIBERTY , NY ] To demonstrate and promote Squats, what Andre Turan calls the “all-in-one supermove” Andre decided to work with Guinness Book of World records to create a new category for squats. Indeed he did and with Guinness Book’s approval of the new category; Andre set out to do the most squats in a 24-hour period on Saturday, May 28, 2011.
On May 29th at 12 noon in the Liberty Fitness Center , Andre set his world record—15,969 squats in 24-hours. He slept about 4 hours and ate non-stop. He lost 4 pounds of body FAT in 1 day. “Squatting is more effective than any piece of equipment. In squatting, you are the machine,” Andre tells us, “it is therapeutic and allows you to do other moves easier.” When asked why he has chosen to do squats for 24 hours, he explains, “The reason is YOU. I want you to have the opportunity to be introduced to an activity that could truly enhance your life experience, vitality and health,” Andre says. “Squats are overlooked by the average person and because they changed my life so radically, I feel privileged to pass this experience on to others.”
Next year Andre’s plans include setting a new world record in squats!
