Two-day Sullivan County Visit
Along their journey from the North Pole, while traveling on a magical, lighted Christmas village and sleigh, Santa and Mrs. Claus made a special two-day stop in Sullivan County to visit to children of all ages! On December 10th they visited boys and girls from Eldred, Yulan, Barryville, Glen Spey and Narrowsburg, where the people witnessed a true Chrismas scene. Santa met with every child, taking christmas orders while elves handed out candy, the Snow Queen sang and music played. The Santa Express’s 50 feet of magic lights and music was a delight to all! Frosty and friends even posed for pictures with the children.
December 17 was an amazing and memorable night shared by Bethel and Liberty. In Liberty, kids started to line the streets two hours early. Hot chocolate and cookies kept them warm as they anticipated Santa’s arrival. During the wait, local school ages children sang carols. Santa glided in at about 7PM with his own police escort. Sleighbells echoed on Main Street as kids held up signs welcoming Santa and shouted, “I'm here, Santa!” and “Santa, I love you.” There were cookies, candy, and toys for all! Santa talked to boys and girls, listened to their Christmas wish lists and posed for hundreds of photos. Later in the evening, Santa danced in the street with the crowd while “Christmas Magic” in the form of snow began to fall.
In Liberty, after the Snow Queen sang her final song she was taken by surprise when her brother, who is a Marine and has been away for a very long time, boarded the Santa Express and gave her his arrival as her Christmas gift. The scene that followed will always be remembered as a wonderful Christmas moment.
The Santa Express Christmas Spirit Meter topped out on “BELIEVE” . . . and among the seven towns and 100-plus miles traveled, Santa was able to visit with thousands of kids and families in Sullivan County.
